Past, Present, Future
Jeremy Cowart, a photographer whom I look up to, never ceases to amaze. Not only is he an incredible photographer and entrepreneur, he also has a beautiful giving spirit. In the video below he talks about his past, present, future; how he got started in the photography industry, what he’s doing now, and his goals for the future.
His future dream project is so unbelievable! He wants to build a global chain of hotels called The Purpose Hotel where each room will sponsor a child and tell their story. Internet fees will go toward the fight against human trafficking. Room keys will be connected to The Giving Keys, an amazing company who employs the homeless. There will be a functioning well in the lobby. Everything down to the soap is going to be connected to a cause or a non-profit.
After watching this video I took a few minutes to reminisce on my own life journey and think of all the things that I’ve overcome to get to where I am today. It also got me thinking about all of the big things I still want to accomplish in the near future. Dreams that seem so big to me; but in the grand scheme of things aren’t that big at all.
I get overwhelmed when I think of even taking the first few steps towards those dreams—dreams that I can’t share publicly yet—and then I quickly remind myself that six years ago I didn’t even own a DSLR, and now I have a portrait photography business and I teach others how to use their cameras.
Those first few steps are the hardest of all. The stepping into the unknown. Walking forward in not knowing what the outcome will be is so difficult—when you doubt yourself and everyone around you is telling you that you’re crazy, but deep down inside you know you have to do it.
As I sign off here I’m going to take the first step and write out a plan of action for my BIG dream. Will keep you posted.
